Yi-Tang Lin wird PRIMA Professorin am HS
Die Seminardirektion freut sich mitzuteilen, dass Dr. Yi-Tang Lin per 1. Februar 2023 im Rahmen des SNF PRIMA-Programms eine fünfjährige Professur an unserem Seminar antritt.
Dr. Lins PRIMA-Projekt ist an der Schnittstelle zwischen internationaler politischer Geschichte, Wissens- und Technikgeschichte angesiedelt. Es trägt den Titel «Rice Knowledge and Practices between Pacific Asia and West Africa: International Development meets local farming (1960–1991)». Zusammen mit einem zweiköpfigen Team wird sie den Austausch zwischen Asien und Afrika zur Zeit der «Grünen Revolution» und im Kontext des Kalten Krieges untersuchen – und dabei auf die Akteuren in diesen Regionen fokussieren, statt das Bild der blossen Hilfeempfänger zu perpetuieren. Zur Erschliessung einer Fülle an Quellen werden auch digitale Methoden erarbeitet.
Dr. Lins Projekt verknüpft hervorragend die Forschungsschwerpunkte des Historischen Seminars zu Asien und Afrika.
PRIMA professorship for Yi-Tang Lin
The Directors of the Department of History are delighted to announce that Dr. Yi-Tang Lin will be joining us as a Swiss National Science Foundation PRIMA professor from 1. February 2023.
Located at the intersection of international political history and the history of science and technology, Dr. Lin’s PRIMA-project is titled “Rice Knowledge and Practices between Pacific Asia and West Africa: International Development meets local farming (1960–1991)”. It aims to decentralize historical accounts of the Cold War-era “Green Revolution” by studying exchange pathways between Asia and Africa and challenging the notion of two regions considered only the recipients instead of actors in these exchanges. Over the five-year period of her professorship, she and her team will mobilize mixed methods to capture historical data from actors who left various quantities of written records.
Dr. Lin’s groundbreaking research connects two of our department’s leading areas of research, Africa and Asia. We look forward greatly to welcoming her to the University of Zurich.
